Suit & Jacket trouser Alterations since 1999

Alter to your exact line.

Off-the-rack jackets are cut for an average that doesn't exist. Our tailors reshape shoulders, sleeves and the body of the jacket until it hangs like it was cut for you alone.

What we alter

Every panel of the jacket, adjusted with intent.

01

Shoulder & sleeve

Sleeve length, pitch and taper corrected, plus shoulder seam realignment for jackets that sit too wide or too narrow across the top.

02

Waist suppression

Side seams taken in through the body for a cleaner silhouette, without disturbing the pocket line or the drape of the chest.

03

Jacket length

Hem shortened or let out at the base, with the vent and lining re-set so the proportion still reads correctly at the back.

04

Collar & lapel

Collar re-seated at the back of the neck to remove gapping, and lapel roll adjusted where the break sits too high or too low.

05

Button stance

Button position moved to change where the jacket closes, correcting a stance that pulls, gapes, or sits above the natural waist.

06

Working cuffs

Sleeve buttons converted to working surgeon's cuffs, and cuff buttonholes re-cut for jackets with genuine function.

How it works

Four visits, one jacket that finally fits.

01 / Consult

Wear it in

Bring the jacket in as you'd normally wear it — with the shirt, tie or layers you'll actually pair it with.

02 / Pin

Fit assessed

Our tailor pins the shoulders, waist and sleeves live on your body and talks you through what's being changed.

03 / Fit

First fitting

Alterations are basted in and checked on you again before anything is finished permanently.

04 / Collect

Final press

Seams finished, pressed and returned on the hanger — ready to wear straight out the door.

Reading the fit

Signs a jacket is fighting you.

  • Collar gaps at the back of the neckThe collar needs re-seating rather than a general resize.
  • Sleeves cover the shirt cuffA quarter to half inch of shirt cuff should show at rest.
  • Fabric pools at the lower backUsually solved with waist suppression through the side seams.
  • The button pulls when closedA sign the body is cut too narrow or the stance sits too low.
  • Shoulders extend past your ownThe most involved fix, and the one worth getting right first.

Questions

Before you book.

Yes, our fitting stylists can travel to residences or offices within 15km of Brisbane CBD. A call-out fee does apply – see ourConcierge page for more information about call-outs.

Our point of difference is making suits look on-trend and complementary to your shape and style. Often, all it takes is some tapering of the trouser legs and slimming of the jacket sleeves, and the look of a suit is transformed.

Once we see your suit, we can tell you instantly how to elevate it – this is a big relief for our clients who do not wear suits often and need that extra guidance.

Most jacket alterations take two visits: pinning and a first fitting, then a final collection once everything is pressed. Larger structural changes may need a third.

Shoulder work is possible on most jackets but depends on how the garment was constructed. We'll tell you honestly at your fitting if a shoulder is better replaced than altered.

Yes. We regularly work on jackets bought while travelling, along with off-the-rack and made-to-measure pieces from any retailer.

Standard alterations are typically ready in five to seven business days from your fitting. Let us know if you're working to an event date.

Yes, and we'd recommend it if you're altering a full suit — trouser and jacket proportions read best when fitted as a set.
